Feeling the bright summer is just around the corner, I've been excited that I can share my first children's book "The Purr-ple Power Cats Ventures" with you.

you know, iIllustrating a children's book is my first challenge.
I've painted more than 30 illustrations of this charming purple cat sisters and fluffy friendly animals in the last half year for this marvelous cat story.

As you may have known, I always stick on oil painting. So can you believe that I had painted 5 oil paintings every month for 6 months total? I am such a hard worker! LOL*
Let me share my painting process on one painting here which is one of my most favorite scene.
Well, first, I gotta make a draft to present to writers and publisher to show them what I am going to paint.

While I am waiting their replies, let me prepare canvas board, paints and paint brushes. Those fan brushes are the must for painting fruffy animals.

OK, they loved my drawing. (I always love polite people* -P*) So now I can get on painting!
This painting was a night scene. It's a bit hard to paint the picture which has strong lighting contrast (at least to me! ), so I made color lighting map first.

And on the base of the light color map, I painted the first color layer. At this point, everything is just flat and boring, but don't worry, it gets nice and pretty soon.

In the second layer process, more details came up. Painting this sweet picture, smile was always on my face. My little wild was giving me a wired look*

Oh, but look at my hand! I hope nobody come to knock my door right now. You may easily imagine how my face look like now, too.

On the third layer, all details eventually came up. It is something like "Spot the difference" game, but you can see how shadows gave the painting more stereoscopic effect and every ellements on the picture got harmoney.

Here is the completed painting. After making sure that everything got dry (usually takes 2 to 4 days), I scan my painting in 600 dpi. It is a bit large resolution, but it is the requirment from my publisher. But after all, I liked it and started scanning all my paintings in 600 dpi for art print making.
